“Enakku Tamil Pesa Varum Ippo”

Actress and National level sprinter, Aaditi Pohankar who is set to make her Tamil debut with Selvaraghavan-Santhanam’s Mannavan Vanthaanadi told us that she thoroughly enjoyed working on the film.

When I heard it is a Selvaraghavan’s movie, I was excited as his heroines are portrayed as strong women,” said Aaditi. Talking about her role in the movie, she said she could relate to it on a personal level. “I am an independent person in real life and that is how my character in the film is. We have completed shooting majority of the film. We will be taking off to the US for the next schedule soon,” she said.

With a strong theatre background, Aaditi said that the experience gave her a huge advantage. “Back in Mumbai, when we perform in theatre, we are constantly improvising based on the reactions. Similarly, on the sets of Mannavan Vanthaanadi, I constantly kept improvising on the spot. And Selva sir being a perfectionist, wanted the best from me while also giving me the freedom to sketch my character,” said the actress.

Coming from a family of artistes, Aaditi said she was never under pressure to make it to theatre or films. “I was also strong in my academics. My dad and grandmother were theatre artistes as well, while my grandfather was a vocalist.” She also told us that she has been learning Tamil and has been listening to quite a few scripts. “Enakku Tamil pesa varum ippo. I have a friend in Chennai who is teaching me the language. In fact, I have been conversing in Tamil to people on the set, to the touch up guy and others. Also, Tamil industry has given me the perfect launch pad. So, I should learn the language well as I am keen on doing more Tamil movies in the future. I will also make some announcements regarding new projects soon. For now, my focus is on Mannavan Vanthaanadi,” she added.
