S.P.B And Charan React To Ilaiyaraja’s Legal Notice

We had reported earlier today on the legal notice that had reached S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and his son Charan from the side of ‘Isaignani’ Ilaiyaraja. According to the veteran singer’s Facebook post, under the Copyrights act he’ll not be allowed to use use his songs anymore for any of his concerts. This comes in the middle of his SPB50 tour that’s currently in USA.

Reacting to it, SPB today vowed that he would never render any song of Ilaiyaraja. ”In any stage in future, I will never render any of his songs”, SPB tweeted, responding to the legal notice from Ilayaraja.

Singer and producer S.P.B. Charan spoke to a news-channel where he said, “My father has sung nearly 40,000 songs and Ilaiyaraja had composed for above 1000 films. If he has composed nearly 6000 songs at a rate of 6 songs per movie, my father would’ve not sung nearly half of the songs. In that rate, out of a few thousand songs which my father sung for Ilaiyaraja, we have got nearly 35,000 songs in their bouquet. With these songs if we begin an international tour, our lifetime will not be enough to perform the rest of the songs which my father has performed until now.

SPB had recently rendered some of the hit songs that he sang for Ilayaraja, at a concert in Los Angeles and for which, the latter has sent a legal notice to the organizers and the singer.

It may be recalled that both SPB and Ilaiyaraja share a great rapport for over four decades and he has sung thousands of songs set to tunes by Ilaiyaraja since early 1980s. The duo have combined well to produce hundreds of hit songs which still captivates the audience.
