Venkaiah Naidu Comments On The Ilaiyaraaja And S. P. Balasubrahmanyam Row

This has been the talk of K’Town for the past 3-4 days after acclaimed composer Ilaiyaraaja sent a legal notice to veteran singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam for singing songs without the legendary composer’s permission.

With the issue being talked about quite a lot among the industry elite as well as fans, SPB himself issued a statement on March 19 saying, “I request all friends, musiclovers and especially all media persons, not to make I.Raja- SPB issue sensational. It is unfortunate. That is all. Show has to go on, life has to move on. In God’s creation all are good and equal. Thank you,”.

In the meantime, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu issued a statement quoting he was quite surprised with the controversy. Taking to his Twitter space, the senioor politician said, “I was surprised hearing controversy surrounding Sh SP Balasubrahmanyam singing Sh Ilayaraja compositions. Hope it gets positively resolved,”.

S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, who is on his world tour (SPB50) had received a legal notice from Ilaiyaraaja’s lawyer. The notice addressed to SPB, his son Charan, singer Chitra and the organizers of the concerts stated that they stop singing the songs composed by the ‘Maestro’ as they did not get his consent.
