‘Kabali’ Star Radhika Apte: India Is Ashamed Of Sexuality

Kabali star Radhika Apte is known for her bold films and statements. As we had reported earlier, she’s playing the female lead in Akshay Kumar’s Padman.

Padman is the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who found an innovative method to bring safe and cost effective sanitary pads for the rural women across the country.

In a recent interview, Radhika Apte said “I think our country is very ashamed of sexuality, physicality, or human body. Anything to do with human body or sexuality is a problem here.” She also said, “It should not feel awkward touching the pad in front of people. These are small things with which people have issues.”

Besides Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte, Padman also stars Sonam Kapoor and is being directed by Paa and Cheeni Kum director R Balki. The film is slated to release in the second half of this year.
